Answers:

Excess reactant = Option C

Limiting reactant = Option B

Theoretical yield = Option A

Excess reactant is the type that has more then enough to complete the reaction which means there will be some left over after the reaction is completed. Limiting reactant is the type that just has enough to complete the reaction so after the reaction is completed there will be none left. Then there is Theoretical Yield which is created by the masses of the reactants.

Hope this helps.

If 15.0 mL of phosphoric acid completely neutralizes 38.5 mL of 0.150 mol/L calcium hydroxide, what is the concentration of the
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

Let me give it a try.

H3PO4 + Ca(OH)2 = Ca3(PO4)2 + H2O

Balancing this reaction

2H3PO4 + 3Ca(OH)2 == Ca3(PO4)2 + 6H2O.

Moles= Molarity x Volume

Volume = 38.5ml = 0.0385L

Moles of Ca hydroxide = 0.150m/L x 0.0385L

(Notice the units canceling out...leaving moles).

=0.005775moles of Ca(OH)2.

From balanced reaction...

3moles of Ca(OH)2 completely reacts with 2moles of H3PO4

0.005775moles of Ca(OH)2 would completely react with....

= 0.005775 x 2/(3)

=0.00385moles of H3PO4.

Now we're looking for its Concentration in Mol/L

Molarity=Moles of solute/Volume of solution(in L)

Volume of solution assuming no other additions to the reaction = 15ml + 38.5ml =53.5ml =0.0535L

Molarity = 0.00385/0.0535

=0.072Mol/L.

If this is wrong

then Simply Try The formula for Mixing of solutions

C1V1 = C2V2

0.15 x 38.5 = C2 x (15+38.5)

C2 = 0.11M/L.

Arada [10]

When a compound containing C, H and O is completely combusted in air what reactant besides the hydrocarbon is involved in the reaction is Oxygen.

What is hydrocarbon?

A hydrocarbon is an organic molecule composed completely of hydrogen and carbon in organic chemistry. Group 14 hydrides include hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons are often colourless and hydrophobic, with scents that are weak or exemplified by gasoline and lighter fluid. They exist in a wide range of molecular forms and phases, including gases (like methane and propane), liquids (like hexane and benzene), low melting solids (like paraffin wax and naphthalene), and polymers (such as polyethylene and polystyrene). Hydrocarbon refers to naturally occurring petroleum, natural gas, and coal, as well as their hydrocarbon derivatives and refined forms, in the fossil fuel industry. The primary source of energy on the planet is the combustion of hydrocarbons.

What impact would adding twice as much na2co3 than required for stoichiometric quantities have on the quantity of product produc
zubka84 [21]
If too much of Na2Co3 is added to a particular chemical reaction, there will be a shortage of the other reactant which is supposed to react with the Na2Co3 and this will leads to excess production of the product. Stoichiometric should always be used to obtain information about the appropriate quantities of chemicals that should be used during chemical reactions.
