Think of it this way. You have 5 apples. You eat 2. How many do you have left? Three. How? Well, you took away two from five, or you subtracted them (5-2) and got 3. We will do the same here.

If it’s the decimal places that confuse you, fear not. You subtract them just the same as you would normal numbers. I added a picture and labelled which numbers you subtract from which to make it easier if that’s the problem. Hope this helped.

The answer is $12.30 :)

Which of the following best describes the solution to the system of equations below?
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer: OPTION A

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of the line in slope-intercept form is:

y=mx+b

Where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.

Solve for y from each equation:

\left \{ {{5y=-4x+7} \atop {10y=-8x+14}} \right.\\\\\left \{ {{y=\frac{-4}{5}x+\frac{7}{5}} \atop {y=\frac{-8}{10}x+\frac{14}{10}}} \right.\\\\\left \{ {{y=\frac{-4}{5}x+\frac{7}{5}} \atop {y=\frac{-4}{5}x+\frac{7}{5}}} \right.

As you can see the slope and the y-intercept of each equation are equal, this means that both are the exact same line. Therefore, you can conclude that the system has infinitely many solutions.

Can someone please explain

Start by defining variables (things you don't know). Let's make:
t = number of true/false questions
m = number of multiple choice questions

Equation #1
total questions on the test (given to be 20) is then:
t + m = 20

Equation #2
Multiply the number of questions by the points it's worth to get the total points
3t + 11m = 100

Now, you can use substitution to combine the two equations.

t + m = 20
by subtracting m from both sides, equation 1# becomes..
t = 20 - m

substitute t for 20 - m in the second equation.
3(20 - m) + 11m = 100

Solve for m.
3(20 - m) + 11m = 100
60 - 3m + 11m = 100
8m = 100 - 60
8m = 40
m = 5

There are 5 multiple choice questions on the test.
Now use this to find t.
t + m = 20
t + 5 = 20
t = 20 - 5
t = 15

there are 15 true/false questions on the test.

Determine which point is the solution to the given system. y= -7/2 x + 32 y= 4/5 x -11
taurus [48]

Answer:

(10, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

-\frac{7}{2}x+32=\frac{4}{5}x-11 \\ \\ -35x+320=8x-110 \\ \\ -43x=-430 \\ \\ x=10 \\ \\ \therefore y=-\frac{7}{2}(10)+32=-3
