X + 1 < 5
x < 5 - 1
x < 4

u basically solve it like equations except for one important rule....with inequalities, when u multiply/divide by a negative number, the inequality sign changes directions. But we didn't have to deal with that rule in this particular problem

14.62 rounded to the nearest number
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

15

Step-by-step explanation:

To answer this, we would have to look at the last place first, which is the hundredths place. In the hundredths place, we have a 2. 2 is less than 5, so we would just pretend it isn't there since we would round down. Now, looking at the tenths place, which is the 6, we can determine whether or not we round. If the number is 5 and above, (including 5) we would round up. In this case, it is 6, so we would round the number in front of it (4) up by one to get 15.

A 24-foot ladder leans against a building. The foot
romanna [79]

Answer:

73°

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we use trigonometry to find the angle. The building and the ground form a perpendicular angle, with the ladder acting as the hypotenuse, we get a right angle. We know the length of adjacent leg from the angle, and the length of the hypotenuse. In this case, we use cosine since cos = adjacent length/hypotenuse length. So cos x= 7/24. To isolate x, we use the inverse function of cos, cos^-1. Then x= cos^-1 (7/24) or 73°.

Match each polynomial in standard form to its equivalent factored form.
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

  • 8x^3+1   ⇒   (2x+1)(4x^2−2x+1)
  • 2x^4+16x   ⇒   2x(x+2)(x^2−2x+4)
  • x^3+8   ⇒   (x+2)(x^2−2x+4)

Step-by-step explanation:

The factoring of the sum of cubes is ...

  a³ +b³ = (a +b)(a² -ab +b²)

1. a=2x, b=1

  = (2x)³ + 1³

__

2. There is an overall factor of 2x. Once that is factored out, a=x, b=2.

  = (2x)(x³ +2³)

__

3. a=x, b=2

  = x³ +2³
