If 2 gallons of oil are used a day, than he will need 60 gallons of oil, because 30x2=60. For 60 gallons of oil, you would have to have 12 drums because 60÷5=12. Because there is already 8 drums of oil, there would already be 40 gallons because 8x5=40. If the owner already had 40 gallons of oil, they would only have to get 20 more gallons because 60-40=20. That would be 4 drums because 20÷5=4. The owner would have to order 4 more drums of oil.

enyata [817]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

sum the parts of the ratio, 5 + 6 + 3 = 14 parts

Divide number of members by 14 to find the value of one part of the ratio.

560 ÷ 14 = 40 ← value of 1 part of the ratio

(i)

number of women = 6 × 40 = 240

(ii)

number of children = 3 × 40 = 120

kifflom [539]

Answer:

 13, 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the smaller of the two integers. Then the larger is x+2. The required relation is ...

 x² = 154 +(x +2) . . . . . . the smaller squared is 154 more than the larger

 x² -x = 156 . . . . . . . . . . subtract x

 x² -x +1/4 = 156.25 . . . complete the square

 (x -1/2) = √156.25 = 12.5 . . . . take the square root

 x = 13 . . . . . add 1/2

The two integers are 13 and 15.

__

Check

 13² -15 = 169 -15 = 154 . . . as required
