Explanation:

Green algae contain two pigment types:

 • chlorophylls
 • carotenoids

Chlorophyll a shows maximal absorption of red light at 642 nm and 372 nm in blue light; while chlorophyll b's absorption is at 626 nm and 392 nm, respectively.

Carotenoids show maximal absorption between 425 and 475 nm.

Further Explanation:

Chlorophylls consist of a ringed molecule, chlorine, a hydrogenated form of porphyrin containing in the center a magnesium ion bonded to four nitrogen atoms. Various types of chlorophyll contain sidechains that influence the molecule's absorption range, for example A has a methyl group bound to the C7 spot, while at this position B has an aldehyde (CHO) ring.

Carotenoids are polyene chains containing 9-11 double bonds which may end in two rings. All carotenoids are isomers of isoprene, and are typically derivatives of and dimethylallyl diphosphate and isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP).

Integrated inside the chloroplast thykaloid membrane, chlorophyll a and B primarily absorb orange-red and violet-blue wavelengths, carotenes absorb orange light and xanthophylls absorb yellow light. Pigments also transform light energy into chemical energy for the photosynthesis process. This happens within the light-dependent reaction.

2. Describe the trans-
formation of energy
that occurs during
photosynthesis.

Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Photosynthesis is the process plants use to convert energy from the sun into usable energy for their cells. Plants use the light energy of the sun, carbon dioxide, and water to make glucose (a sugar), and oxygen. The energy of the sun is captured and stored in the bonds between atoms in glucose molecules.

The bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus are frequently used in the production of yogurt. These bacteria use lactic acid fermentat
Tom [10]

The right answer is A.

Lactic fermentation is a catabolic process, a fermentation, having as a starting point glycolysis, which produces an acid, lactic acid used to reoxidize NADH to NAD+, and by the way it produces energy in form of ATP.

In other words, lactic acid fermentation is a biological process by which sugars such as glucose, fructose, and sucrose are converted into cellular energy and metabolic byproduct, lactate. It is a lactic ferment that intervenes.

What is required for natural selection to take place? (HINT: There are 3 requirements)
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

Explanation:

Four conditions are needed for natural selection to occur: reproduction, heredity, variation in fitness or organisms, variation in individual characters among members of the population.

ORR

Struggle for existence, variation and inheritance. These are said to be the necessary and sufficient conditions for natural selection to occur.
