Answer:

the Declaration of Independence

Explanation:

Interestingly, King was not a communist, but definitely not an anti-communist either. The fact that he relied on the masses in the struggle with local and federal authorities for economic, political and social equality, that he sought to strengthen ties with democratically-minded white Americans and, above all, with the trade union movement, that he linked the struggle for the freedom of blacks with the struggle for the world that he readily studied with all supporters of progress, including the Communists, testifies to his political growth. This is evidenced by his speeches and published articles. He said that the US Declaration of Independence (1776) contains exciting phrases about universal brotherhood, which was never achieved due to slavery and subsequent segregation.

What is the paradox as related to slavery in the United States?
EastWind [94]

Hey there!

The answer is A. That slavery was still allowed in a free nation.

One of the things the colonists fought for was freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press along with other things.

However, for hundreds of thousands of slaves torn away from their homes, they had none of these freedoms. They were considered inferior and not people.

A paradox is a statement that seems absurd of self-contradictory, which this statement very much is. If the U.S. is a free nation, then why do hundreds of thousands of people living there have no freedoms, stolen from them by the very people who advocated for their own freedom?

Hope this helps!
