Answer:

The correct answer is:48.5% X-59, 51.5% X-61

Explanation:

Average atomic mass of an element is defined as the sum of masses of each isotope each multiplied by their natural fractional abundance.

Formula used to calculate average atomic mass follows:

\text{Average atomic mass }=\sum_{i=1}^n\text{(Atomic mass of an isotopes)}_i\times \text{(Fractional abundance})_i.....(1)

Let the fractional abundance of X-59 isotope be 'x'. So, fractional abundance of X-61 isotope will be '1 - x'

For X-59 isotope:

Mass of  X-59 isotope =59 g/mol

Fractional abundance of X-59 isotope = x

For  X-61 isotope:

Mass of  X-61 isotope = 61 g/mol

Fractional abundance of  X-61 isotope = 1 - x

Average atomic mass of chlorine = 35.4527 amu

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

59.97 g/mol=[(59 g/mol\times x)+(61 g/mol\times (1-x))]\\\\x=0.515

Percentage abundance of X-59 isotope = 0.515\times 100=51.5\%

Percentage abundance of X-61 isotope = (1-0.515)=0.485\times 100=48.5\%

Hence, the percentage abundance of both the isotopes X-59and X-61 are 51.5% and 48.5% respectively.

From the data below, calculate the total heat (in j) needed to convert 0.782 mol of gaseous ethanol at 300.0°c and 1 atm to liqu
Anika [276]

Answer:

You must remove \text{50.6 kJ} .

Explanation:

There are three heat transfers in this process:

Total heat = cool the vapour + condense the vapour + cool the liquid

       q          =           q₁            +                q₂                   +           q₃

       q          =       nC₁ΔT₁        +          nΔHcond             +        nC₂ΔT₂

Let's calculate these heat transfers separately.

Data:

You don't give "the data below", so I will use my best estimates from the NIST Chemistry WebBook. You can later substitute your own values.

C₁ = specific heat capacity of vapour = 90 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹

C₂ = specific heat capacity of liquid = 115 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹

ΔHcond = -38.56 kJ·mol⁻¹

Tmax = 300   °C

  b.p. =   78.4 °C

Tmin =   25.0 °C

n = 0.782 mol

Calculations:

ΔT₁ = 78.4 - 300 = -221.6 K

q₁ = 0.782 × 90 × (-221.6) = -15 600 J = -15.60 kJ

q₂ = 0.782 × (-38.56) = -30.15 kJ

ΔT = 25.0 - 78.4 = -53.4 K

q₃ = 0.782 × 115 × (-53.4) = -4802 J = 4.802 kJ

q = -15.60 - 53.4 - 4.802 = -50.6 kJ

You must remove \text{50.6 kJ} of heat to convert the vapour to a gas.

Which of the following is the abbreviation for a nucleotide containing the nitrogenous base cytosine, a hydrogen at the 2’ carbo
zvonat [6]

Answer:

dCDP

Explanation:

The nucleotide has hydrogen at it second carbon which means that it has deoxy pentose sugar which is written in small d as prefix.

The nitrogenous base is cytosine and it contains 2 phosphate groups which are attached to the 5 carbon of the pentose sugar means it is cytosine diphosphate.

So, the abbrevation of the molecule is : dCDP

Write three sentences that provide evidence supporting your claim about how the illustration and student observations support th
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

The cell theory claims these three components:

1. cell is the smallest functional unit of life: It can be observed under the microscope that cells have various type of molecules and organelles present and have adifferent functional role in the cell which explains that the cell is the smallest unit of life as its molecules or organelles can not carry the life process on their own.

2. All organisms are made up of cells: From bacteria and archaea to human and other life forms are made up of a single cell or organization of cells in a specific pattern it also can be observed by the microscopic of blood or other tissue or cell of an organism.

3. Arise from pre-existing cell: The cells are can be studied under a microscope during cell division where we can observe that new cells come from the pre existing cell by the cell division.

When a beta particle is released from a nucleus of an atom:
tatiyna
The correct answer is option B. i.e. the number of protons is increased.

In beta-particle emission, a neutron is changed into proton, electron and electron neutrino. The electron is emitted as beta particle and the proton remains inside the atom. Thus, the mass number remains same but the atomic number increases by one.

finlep [7]
One benefit of this is that the weaknesses of some of their plans are covered by better plans. Another is that if the final plan doesn’t result, there are already many other ideas to go off of. A final benefit is that if the overall plan does work, it can still be easily improvised. Hope this helps! After all, this question is more opinion based.
