$B+D=8$
$6B+5D=43$

To solve: First rearrange equation 1 to solve for either $B$ or $D$ (doesn't matter which, I'll use $B$):

$B=8-D$

Now substitute into equation 2:
$6(8-D)+5D=43$
and solve for $D$
$48-6D+5D=43$
$-D=-5$
$D=5$
