Advantage of and MRI scan over a CT scan:

• An MRI scan helps in providing a 3D image of the body and its internal tissues. MRI uses radio waves and powerful magnets to produce the diagnostic images.
• CT scans use X-ray technology to produce diagnostic images. These images are two-dimensional and may not be as detailed as the images produced by MRI.
• MRI scans help in diagnosing problems with the back, spine, brain, neck etc. whereas a CT scan helps to diagnose serious injuries of the head, chest, spine and fractures.
