The time you spend in drug treatment depends on what type of program it is and the plan you created with your treatment providers. You might attend for 5 to 6 hours every day, a few hours each evening or several hours total each week, for example. One benefit of these programs is that you can return home each evening and may be able to more effectively balance treatment with other obligations, such as work, school or family needs.

the standard procedure is to send an addict or mental health patient to an in patient (residential) program to get them completly detoxed and in a safe enviroment (safe of drugs family lovers crime and work/school)

now the outpatient programs are typically that of the patient comes in at night to sleep and tehn goes about their day normally but typically will involve a twelve step meeting doctor meeting and or school or work or both.
