Use the first x then subtract the second x. then the y then the second y. yes it does matter because the numbers you subtract will add up to your answer

Answer:

No,  order in which we subtract the x coordinates and y coordinates does nor matter

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the two points be \left ( x_1,y_1 \right )\,\,,\,\,\left ( x_2,y_2 \right )

By distance formula: distance between points \left ( x_1,y_1 \right )\,\,,\,\,\left ( x_2,y_2 \right ) is equal to \sqrt{\left ( x_2-x_1 \right )^2+\left ( y_2-y_1 \right )^2}

We know that \left ( x_2-x_1 \right )^2=\left ( x_1-x_2 \right )^2 and \left ( y_2-y_1 \right )^2=\left ( y_1-y_2 \right )^2

So,

\sqrt{\left ( x_2-x_1 \right )^2+\left ( y_2-y_1 \right )^2}\\=\sqrt{\left ( x_1-x_2 \right )^2+\left ( y_1-y_2 \right )^2}

Therefore, we can say in distance formula , order in which we subtract the x coordinates and y coordinates does nor matter .

For example distance between points \left ( 2,3 \right )\,,\,\left ( 4,5 \right ) is shown as below :

\sqrt{\left ( 4-2 \right )^2+\left ( 5-3 \right )^2}\\=\sqrt{\left ( 2-4 \right )^2+\left ( 3-5 \right )^2}\\=\sqrt{4+4}\\=\sqrt{8}

a goat tethered to a stake by a rope has grazed the meadow over an area of 12.56msqare around it stretching the rope. i) what is
Nikolay [14]

Answers:

length of rope = 2 meters

perimeter of meadow = 12.56 square meters

=========================================================

Explanation:

Assuming there are no structures (buildings, fences, etc) to get in the way of the goat, this means the goat's area that it can roam is a circle with radius r

The area of the circle is pi*r^2 which is equal to 12.56 square meters

pi*r^2 = 12.56

3.14*r^2 = 12.56

r^2 = 4

r = sqrt(4)

r = 2

The radius of the circle is 2 meters. This is the length of the rope. If the goat goes out as far as it can go, and tries to move left/right, then it will trace out a circle of radius 2. This is assuming the rope is kept fully taut the entire time.

The perimeter of the circle is the same as the circumference

circumference = 2*pi*r

circumference = 2*pi*2

circumference = 4*pi

circumference = 4*3.14

circumference = 12.56

The circumference and area are the same because r^2 = 4 and 2*r = 4 when r = 2. For any other positive r value, the area and circumference will be different values.

So in short, if a friend says that the area of a circle is the same as its perimeter, then you can immediately conclude the radius is 2.

Side note: throughout all of this solution, I used the approximation pi = 3.14 though pi has more decimal digits

Use the distributive property of multiplication to find 6×24.<br><br> Hint: 24= 4+20.
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

6 × 24 ← replace 24 by 4 + 20

= 6(4 + 20) ← multiply each term in the parenthesis by 6

= 24 + 120

= 124

Please help me. I'm stupid.
Gwar [14]

Answer:

\displaystyle 36\:units

Step-by-step explanation:

Split up this Isosceles, Right Triangle into two congruent smaller right triangles. The reflexive side [the line that splits them apart] is 6 units, and both legs are 8 units, leaving the hypotenuses to AUTOMATICALLY be 10 units, according to the Pythagorean Theorem:

\displaystyle a^2 + b^2 = c^2 \\ \\ 6^2 + 8^2 = 10^2 \\ \\ 36 + 64 = 100 \\ \\ 100 = 100

With this Pythagorean Triple, we know that our dimensions are correct. Now, to find the perimeter, just add up all the sides EXCEPT for the divider:

\displaystyle 2[10] + 2[8] = 20 + 16 = 36

I am joyous to assist you anytime.
