Joe has eaten 3/5 of pizza. Jane has eaten 1/7 of pizza. how many times more pizza has Joe eaten than Jane
Lana71 [14]

The answer would be 14/5.

First of all, get the denominators to be the same. The LCM is  5 × 7 = 3/5

So  1 /7 × 5/ 5 = 5 /3/5

And  2/ 5 × 7 /7 = 14 /35

Now we have  5 /35  and  14 /35

Then all you have to do is divide Joe's by Jane's to get the answer.

14 /35 ÷ 5 35 =14 /35 × 35/ 5 = 14 /5

Meaning the answer is 14/5.

Hope I could help! :)

If m varies directly with x 2 , and m = 10 when x = −4, find the value of m when x = 3
mestny [16]
If it is directly proportional, then:

m = kx
10 = k x -4
k = -2.5

m = 3 x -2.5
m= 7.5

Hope I helped!

Tanner cycled 8 miles in 20 minutes .What is the constant of proportionality based on the situation
solmaris [256]

The constant of proportionality based on the situation is 0.4

Step-by-step explanation:

Tanner cycled 8 miles in 20 minutes

We need to find the constant of proportionality based on the situation

1. The distance is proportion to the time, because the distance and

   the time increased together

2. If the distance d and the time is t, then d ∝ t

3. The equation of the direct proportion is d = k t, where k is the

    constant of proportionality

∵ d = k t

∵ d = 8 miles

∵ t = 20 minutes

- Substitute these values in the equation above

∴ 8 = k (20)

- Divide both sides by 20

∴ k = 0.4

The constant of proportionality based on the situation is 0.4

?? So lost with this
labwork [276]

Answer:

A)\ 1,\ -1,\ -3\\\\B)\ d=-2\\\\C)\ \left\{\begin{array}{ccc}a_1=11\\a_n=a_{n-1}-2\end{array}\right\\\\D)\ f(n)=-2n+13

Step-by-step explanation:

It's an arithmetic sequence.

9 = 11 - 2

7 = 9 - 2

5 = 7 - 2

3 = 5 - 2

A) next three terms: 3 - 2 = 1, 1 - 2 = -1, -1 - 2 = -3

B) Common difference = -2

C) Recursive Function:

\left\{\begin{array}{ccc}a_1=11\\a_n=a_{n-1}-2\end{array}\right

D) Explicit Function:

f(n)=a_1+(n-1)d

a₁ - first term

d - common difference

Substitute a₁ = 11 and d = -2:

f(n)=11+(n-1)(-2)=11-2n+2=-2n+13
