X = ski rentals, y = snowboarding rentals

x + y = 28......x = 28 - y
16x + 19y = 478

16(28 - y) + 19y = 478
448 - 16y + 19y = 478
-16y + 19y = 478 - 448
3y = 30
y = 30/3
y = 10

x + y = 28
x + 10 = 28
x = 28 - 10
x = 18

so 18 rented skis and 10 rented snowboards

The tires on your bicycle have a radius of 14 inches. How many rotations does each tire make when you travel 900 feet? Round you
Nezavi [6.7K]

Around  150 rotations

I rounded the radius to feet which is 1 foot. Then you have to get the diameter which is 1x2=2. The diameter is 2 feet. Now for the circumference, we multiply 2 by 3.14(which is pi). The answer to that is 6.28, and since we are rounding it, we get 6 feet. However, we are traveling 900 feet. Divide 900 by 6 and get 150.

2. What is the sample proportion of heads in your sample of 40? Report this value to your teacher.
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

\frac{18}{40}=0.45

Though it may vary, it's going closer to 0.5 as long as we enlarge our sample.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Since a coin has heads and tails, then a sample proportion of 40 we can simulate it using some applets.

2) Here are the most common outcomes, as long as we continue on flipping coins.

\frac{18}{40}=0.45

If we continue enlarging our sample (80, 120,160...) the probability goes closer to 0.5

This shows: the theoretical probability goes closer and closer to the experimental probability of heads and tails

S_{80}=0.503\\S_{120}=0.50
