A 100.0g sample of lead is heated to 100.0 oC (Celsius) and is placed in a coffee cup calorimeter containing 150. g of water at

25.0 oC. After the metal cools, the final temperature of the metal and the water is 26.4 oC. Calculate the specific heat capacity of lead from these experimental data, assuming that no heat escapes to the surroundings or is transferred to the calorimeter. Specific heat of water = 4.184 J/g oC atomic mass Pb = 207.2 g/mol Calculate your answer in J/g oC with 3 significant figures, but enter the answer without units.

Answer : The specific heat capacity of lead is, 0.119J/g^oC

Explanation :

In this problem we assumed that heat given by the hot body is equal to the heat taken by the cold body.

q_1=-q_2

m_1\times c_1\times (T_f-T_1)=-m_2\times c_2\times (T_f-T_2)

where,

c_1 = specific heat of lead = ?

c_2 = specific heat of water = 4.184J/g^oC

m_1 = mass of lead = 100.0 g

m_2 = mass of water = 150.0 g

T_f = final temperature = 26.4^oC

T_1 = initial temperature of lead = 100.0^oC

T_2 = initial temperature of water = 25^oC

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get

100.0g\times c_1\times (26.4-100.0)^oC=-150.0g\times 4.184J/g^oC\times (26.4-25)^oC

c_1=0.119J/g^oC

Therefore, the specific heat capacity of lead is, 0.119J/g^oC

Theoretically, how many moles of carbonic acid will be produced by 3.00 g sample of NaHCO3?
Kryger [21]
NaHCO3 = 22.99 + 1.008 + 16(3) = 83.99 g/mol

Na = 22.99g/83.99 g weight of molecule =.2727 or 27.27%

3.0 g* .2727 = 0.8211 grams of sodium in sample of NaHCO3

0.8211 grams Na + 1.266 grams Cl = 2.087 grams

The subatomic particle that has. Positive charge and is found in the nucleus an atom is
Kipish [7]

Answer:Protons, neutrons, and electrons are the three main subatomic particles found in an atom. Protons have a positive (+) charge. An easy way to remember this is to remember that both proton and positive start with the letter "P." Neutrons have no electrical charge.

Match each part of the electrochemical cell with its function.
umka21 [38]

Hi!

The correct options would be:

1. Cathode - reduction

The cathode is the negatively charged electrode, and so has an excess of electrons. Cations (positively charged ions) are attracted to the cathode, and gain electrons to acquire a neutral charge. The process in which a gain of electron occurs is called reduction.

2. Anode - oxidation

The opposite occurs at the anode which is positively charged and attracts negatively charged ions, anions. These anions lose their electrons at the anode to acquire a neutral charge, and the process involving loss of electrons is known as oxidation.

3. Salt Bridge - ion transport

Salt bridge is a physical connection between the the anodic and cathodic half cells in an electrochemical cell and is a pathway that facilitates the flow of ions back and forth these half cells. Salt bridge is involved in maintaining a neutral condition in the electrochemical cells, and its absence would result in the accumulation of positive charge in the anodic cell, and negative charge in the cathodic cell.

4. Wire - electron transport

Wires have a universal role of being a pathway for the transport of electrons in circuit. This role is also the same in the wires involved in an electrochemical cells where they are used to transport electrons from the anodic half cell, and this electron transport results in the generation of electricity in the internal circuit of the electrochemical cell.

Hope this helps!
