A popular ride at some playgrounds consists of two circular disks joined by rungs . The center of the unit is attached to a hori

zontal axle around which the unit rotates. The rotational inertia of the unit is 550 kg⋅m2 , and its radius is 1.00 m. A 30-kg child runs and grabs the bottom rung of the ride when it is initially at rest. Because the child can pull herself up to meet the rung at waist height, treat her as a particle located on the rung. The friction between unit and axle is minimal and can be ignored. What is the minimum speed v the child must have when she grabs the bottom rung in order to make the unit rotate about its axle and carry her over the top of the unit? Express your answer with the appropriate units.

Answer:

v = 36.667 m/s

Explanation:

Knowing the rotational inertia as

Lₙ = 550 kg * m²

r = 1.0 m

m = 30.0 kg

To determine the minimum speed v must have when she grabs the bottom

Lₙ =  I * ω

I = ¹/₂ * m * r²

I = ¹/₂ * 30.0 kg * 1.0² m

I = 15 kg * m²

Lₙ =  I * ω  ⇒ ω =  Lₙ / I

ω = [ 550 kg * m² /s  ] / ( 15 kg * m² )

ω = 36.667 rad /s

v = ω * r

v = 36.667 m/s

Consider a system two point charges. One has charge +q at (x, y,z) -(a,0,0) and another of charge-q at (x, y, z) = (-a, 0,0). 5.

Answer:

electricfield at (0,0,0) is Et = 2 k q / a²

Explanation:

For the first part see the diagram , the field lines start from the positive charge and reach the negative charge, notice that no line should cross, some lines go to infinity

For the second part we use that the electric field is a vector quantity and therefore we add the field of each charge, using the equation

     E = k q / r²

Point (0,0,0)

We calculate for the charge -q which is at a distance R = a

   E1 = k (-q) / a²

   E1 = - kq / a²

As the test charge is positive in the field it goes to the left, attractive force

We calculate for the charge that is also at R = a

    E2 = k q / a²

This field goes to the left, repulsive force

We find the total electric field

    Et = E1 + E2

    Et = kq / a² + kq / a²

    Et = 2 k q / a²

Point (0,0, R)

We use the same equations, but with another distance, for the charge -q the distance is R = R+a and for the charge + q the distance is R = R-a

     E1 = k q / (R + a)²

     E2 = kq / (R-a)²

     Et = kq [1 / (R + a)² + 1 / (R-a)²]

     Et= kq {[(R-a)² + (R + a)²] / [(R + a)² (R-a)²]}

     Et= kq {2 (R² + a²) / [(R + a)² (R-a)²]}

If we use the condition that  R> a we can despise in the patents "a"

     (R² + a²) = R² (1+ a² / R²) ≈ R²

     (R + a)² = R² (1 + a / R)² ≈ R²

     (R- a)²  = R² (1-a / R)² ≈ R²

Substituting in the total electric field

     Et = kq {2 R²) / [R²R²]}

     Et =kq 2 / R²

How do paved parking lots and roads with concrete or asphalt affect water flow on the land?
harina [27]
On the regular ground, water usually seeps in to the soil, which has a number of benefits for the wildlife in that area. However, with asphalt and concrete, there is no soft and absorbent soil to take in the water, so it just keeps flowing down to the lowest part of land it can. Additionally, some water runoff can carry fertilizer and other harmful chemicals with it in to the oceans and lakes it’s dumped in, which harms the ecosystem in them as well.
