Answer:

B. Beth's age is 18 years, and Sally's age is 42 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

You can solve this question in a couple of different ways. First, you can use process of elimination. You know that Sally is older than Beth because she has to be 3 times older 6 years ago, so you can get rid of options C and D because they both show Beth as being older. Now you only have A and B, and you can use a different process. Now from just looking at it, you can tell that A actually already shows Sally as 3 times Beth's age, 15 * 3 = 45. If you go to B, you can go ahead and subtract 6 from 18 (Beth's age) which will give you 12, and then multiply that by 3 to get 36. Now if you take 42 (Sally's age) and subtract 6 from it as well, you will get 36. This means that is lines up. To simplify, you are subtracting 6 from both 18 and 42, and then you are multiplying the lower number by 3 to see if it gets to the bigger number.

Hope this helped ^-^

Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

(1) 13.0 years

(2) y^{3} = {-1728, 1728}

Step-by-step explanation:

(1)

Compound annually:

Pe^{rt} = A

(47000)e^{(0.04)(t)} = 79200

e^{(0.04)(t)} = \frac{79200}{47000}

ln(e^{(0.04)(t)}) = ln(\frac{79200}{47000})

ln and e cancel out.

(0.04)(t) = ln(\frac{79200}{47000})

t = \frac{ln(\frac{79200}{47000})}{0.04}

t = 13.0 years

(2)

x^{2} +y^{2} = 153\\y = -4x

Substitute y with -4x.

x^{2} + (-4x)^{2} = 153

Solve for x.

x = {-3, 3}

Plug in x values into any equation to find y.

y = -4(-3) and y = -4(3)

y = {-12, 12}

y^{3} = -12^{3} = -1728

y^{3} = 12^{3} = 1728

A pearl diver goes from clam to clam, checking to see if a pearl is inside. Suppose 10% of clams contain a pearl inside. Approxi
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

The diver will check fewer clams to find his 15th pearl. He will check 15 clams which is 2 clams less than the 17 clam chance given by the 10% probability.

Step-by-step explanation:

CLAM

This is a marine animal that has two shells and live by straining food from water, sand, or mud. They can sometimes found by digging the sand close to the seashore. Like mussels, they can produce pearls, but not as often.

PEARL

They are gems that come in various colors like white, red, gray, blue, green, and black. They are very beautiful and are typically spherical, some also come in an uneven form such as the baroque pearls.

The probability of find pearl inside a clam according to the question is 10%.

P (find pearl in clam) = \frac{10}{100} = \frac{1}{10}

If we have to check 175 clams to look for pearls, how many clams are we expected to search in other to find pears given a 10%  probability out of 175

P (clam with pearl)= \frac{175*1}{10} =17.5

Which is approximately 17 clams

For the diver to find his 15th pearl, he has to check with a minimum chance of checking 15 clams. But the 10% probability of finding a pearl inside a total of 175 clams is 17 clams.

This means the diver will check fewer clams to find his 15th pearl.

Justin needs to buy plastic forks. Brand A has a box of 12 forks for $1.12. Brand B has a box of 25 forks for $2.69. Find the un
Eduardwww [97]

Answer:

Unit price of brand 'A' = $ 0.104

Unit price of brand 'B' = $ 0.1076

One should buy brand 'A' since it less costly.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given data are :-

Brand 'A' has 12 forks which costs $ 1.25.

Brand 'B' has 25 forks which costs $ 2.69.

We have to calculate unit price of each brand and find the best brand to buy according to the unit price.

First calculating the unit price of brand 'A'.

∵ 12 forks costs a total price of $1.25.

∴ 1 forks will cost  =  $ (\frac{1.25}{12})  = $ 0.104

Similarly we can calculate the unit price of brand 'B'.

∵ 25 forks cost a total amount of $2.69

∴ 1 forks cost = $ (\frac{2.69}{25} )  = $ 0.1076

Here we can see that unit price of brand 'A'  is less than unit price of brand 'B'. So to buy the brand 'A' forks will be productive.
