<u>Answer:</u>

The value of  \frac{x}{2}+\frac{\frac{\frac{x}{3}}{x}}{4}=\frac{3 x+8}{6}

<u>Solution: </u>

As given the solution is \frac{x}{2}+\frac{\frac{\frac{x}{3}}{x}}{4}

Simplifying we get,

\left(\left(\frac{x}{2}+\left(\frac{\frac{\frac{x}{3}}{x}}{4}\right)\right)\right. \\\\Reciprocal \ of \ \frac{x}{4} is \frac{4}{x}

On substituting this we get,

\left(\frac{x}{2}\right)+\left(\frac{x}{3} \times \frac{4}{x}\right) =\left(\frac{x}{2}\right)+\left(\frac{4 x}{3 x}\right)

\Rightarrow \frac{x}{2}+\frac{4}{3}

In order to find the sum, we need common denominator which can be derived by finding the LCM of the given denominators.

Factors of 2: 1\times 2

Factors of 3: 1\times 3

Therefore, LCM of 2,3 is 6

\Rightarrow \frac{x \times 3}{2 \times 3}=\frac{3 x}{6}

\Rightarrow \frac{4 \times 2}{3 \times 2}=\frac{8}{6}

\Rightarrow \frac{3 x}{6}+\frac{8}{6}=\frac{3 x+8}{6}

If the quotient of a number and 6 is added to 1/3, the result is 7/6. Find the number.
lisabon 2012 [21]

The number is 4.

<h3>What is the Quotient?</h3>

A quotient is defined as the outcome of dividing an integer by any divisor that can be said to be a quotient. The dividend contains the divisor a specific number of times.

Let n be the number in question; then, we can write the word problem as an equation like this:

⇒ (n/6) + 1/3 = 7/6

Multiply everything by the least common multiple of all the denominators (6, 3, 6), which is 6.

⇒ 6(n/6) + 9(1/3) = 6(7/6)

⇒ n + 3 = 7

Subtract 3 from both sides,

⇒ n = 4

Hence, the number is 4.

The mean is not the same thing as median
mean=78+81+85+87=331
mean=331/4=82.75
median is the middle number, but you have a par set of numbers, so your median will be the middle numbers 78,81,85,87 , which are 81+85=166, 166/2=83
83 is your median
