Answer:

The given case is an illustration of natural selection. Natural selection refers to the phenomenon on the basis of which the organisms that get amended with the environment, seem to thrive and generate more offspring. The theory was first postulated by Charles Darwin and is now considered to be the prime reason, which results in evolution.

Similarly, in the given question, the insects who could withstand the environment around them continue to reproduce, in comparison to those who could not cope up with the environment, thus, this would be regarded as an illustration of natural selection.

'Natural selection' can be defined as the process of selection of the organisms who are more evolved and better suited for their surroundings and are capable of producing high number of offsprings. Artificial selection can be defined as the selection of the organisms by the humans to selectively breed whether or not they are suited for the changing surroundings or not. Since, the farmer only introduced the pesticide, and the insects evolved and inherited resistance to the pesticide, this is a case of the natural selection.

What does it mean to be selectively or semi permeable?
Mama L [17]
Semi permeable means that some things can go in and out of the cell, but some cannot. Permeable means it allows things to pass through it, so semi permeable means only some things pass through.

During the early days of deciphering the human genome, scientists were surprised to find that the number of genes appeared to be
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Given what we know, we can confirm that the aspect of nucleic acids and transcription that can help explain this discrepancy is that of alternative splicing.

Alternative Splicing.

 • This process allowed the cells to use a single gene for the creation of various proteins.
 • This process includes the separation of RNA at splicing sites to create new versions of the mRNA strand.
 • This helps to increase the diversity of mRNA's available and create more proteins.

Therefore, given that alternative splicing allows the cells to create multiple forms of distinct proteins from a single gene, this allowed our organisms to develop the vast number of proteins we use, without the need for a much larger genome.
