Answer:

Height of stone face is : <em>56.7 ft</em>

<em></em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Kindly refer to the attached image for the diagram of the given conditions and values.

Let C be the base of mountain.

D be the point from where two sightings are taken.

AB be the stone face.

Angle of elevations:

\angle BDC =35^\circ\\\angle ADC =38^\circ

To find:

Height of stone face = ?

AB = ?

Solution:

We can use trigonometric function of tangent here in two triangles \triangle BCD\ and\ \triangle ACD:

In\ \triangle BCD :

tan(\angle BDC) = \dfrac{Perpendicular}{Base} = \dfrac{BC}{CD}\\\Rightarrow BC = 700 \times tan35 ..... (1)

In\ \triangle ACD :

tan(\angle ADC) = \dfrac{Perpendicular}{Base} = \dfrac{AC}{CD}\\\Rightarrow AC = 700 \times tan38\\\Rightarrow AB +BC = 700 \times tan38\\\\\text{Using equation (1):}\\\Rightarrow AB + 700 \times tan 35 = 700 \times tan 38\\\Rightarrow AB  = 700 \times tan 38-700 \times tan35\\\Rightarrow AB  = 700 \times (tan 38-tan35)\\\Rightarrow AB  = 700 \times 0.081\\\Rightarrow AB  = \bold{56.7}\ ft

So, Height of stone face is : <em>56.7 ft</em>

Using the quadratic formula to solve 7x2 -x = 7, what are the values of x?
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

x=-7

Step-by-step explanation:

7x2-x=7

7x2=14.

14-x=7

When you finished the last step, you will subtract 14 to both sides.

14-x=7

14-14-x=7-14

this will cancel out the 14 on the left.

And will leave you with:

-x=7-14

7-14 is -7.

and this will get you to

-x=-7

To finish this off, you have to turn the negative x/variable, into a positive x/variable.

So, you will divide both sides of the equation by the same term.

-x = -7

into

\frac{-x}{1} =\frac{-7}{1}

and it will be -7.

I hope this helps      :)

Help me with the right answer
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

x = 3

y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

9x - y = 26  ---------------(I)

9x + y = 28 ---------------(II)

9x - y = 26

9x = 26 + y

Substitute 9x = 26 + y in equation (II)

26 + y + y = 28               {add like terms}

26 + 2y = 28             {subtract 26 from both sides}

         2y = 28 - 26

        2y = 2    {divide both sides by 2}

           y = 2/2

y = 1

Substitute y =1 in equation (I)

9x - 1 = 26

9x = 26 + 1

9x = 27

x = 27/9

x = 3

x = 3

y = 1

Kenneth has 2,000$ to invest
Katarina [22]

The calculations for 2, 4, 8 year can be derived as follows,

For simple interest:

                   S.I = \frac{P*T*R}{100}

P= principle

T= Time

R= Rate

For 2 year;

            S.I = \frac{2000*2*5.6}{100}=  $224

           Amount = $2224

For 4 year;

            S.I = \frac{2000*4*5.6}{100}= $448

           Amount = $2448

For 8 year;

             S.I = \frac{2000*8*5.6}{100}= $896

           Amount = $2896
