Harry and Sally are sitting on opposite sides of a circus tent when an elephant trumpets a loud blast. If Harry experiences a so

und intensity level of 67 dB and Sally experiences only 45 dB, what is the ratio of the distance between Sally and the elephant to the distance between Harry and the elephant?

To solve this problem we will start from the definition of the decibels which refers to the log relationship of the intensities, mathematically each decibel of the people can be described as follows

dB_1 = 10log(\frac{I_1}{I_o})

dB_2 = 10log(\frac{I_2}{I_o})

dB_1 - dB_2 = 10log(\frac{I_1}{I_2})

\frac{67-45}{10} = log(\frac{I_1}{I_2})

log(\frac{I_1}{I_2}) = \frac{11}{5}

For properties of the logarithm then we have that,

\frac{I_1}{I_2} = 10^{11/5}

\frac{I_1}{I_2} = 158.48

We have the relation

\frac{r_2^2}{r_1^2} = 158.48

\frac{r_2}{r_1} = \sqrt{158.48}

\frac{r_2}{r_1} = 12.58

Hello, I need help. Due right now

Answer: See below

Explanation:

\\ \mathrm{Given:} \\\mathrm{Mass \ of \ first \ car}$\left(m_{1}\right)=1383 \mathrm{~kg}$ \\ Velocity $\left(\overrightarrow{V_{1}}\right)=-11.2\ {\math} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$\\ Mass of second car -$\left(m_{2}\right)=1732 \mathrm{~kg}$\\ Velocity $\left(\vec{v}_{2}\right)=31.3 {\math} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$

m_{1} \vec{v}_{1}+m_{2} \vec{v}_{2}=\left(m_{1}+m_{2}\right) \vec{v} \\1383(-11.2 {\math})+1732(31.3 {\math}) \\=(1383+1732) \vec{v} \\-15489.6 {\math}+54211.6 {\math}=3115 \vec{v} \\ \vec{v}=(17.4 {\math}-4.972 {\math}) \ \mathrm{m/s}

\text { So magnitude } \vec{|v|} =\sqrt{(17.4)^{2}+(-4.972)^{2}} \\ =\sqrt{327.605} \\ =18.099 \mathrm \ {m/s} \\

\text { Direction } \\\theta=\tan ^{-1}\left(\frac{-4.972}{17.4}\right) \\\theta=-15.945^{\circ}\end{gathered}

Therefore, both cars move with a velocity of 18.099 m/s in the direction of 15.945° downward from the x-axis (east)

an object was accelerated with a force of 150 N from rest to a velocity of 10m/s in 5 sec. the force of friction opposing the ob
astra-53 [7]

Force = (mass) x (acceleration)

Mass  =  (force) / (acceleration)

There was 150N of force in one direction and 100N of 'force' in
the other direction.  The net force on  the object was (150 - 100) = 50N .

Acceleration = (change in speed) / (time for the change)
                     = (10 m/s) / (5s)  =  2 m/s²

Mass = (net force) / (acceleration) = (50 N) / (2 m/s²) = 25 kilograms

Suppose 1.4 mol of an ideal gas is taken from a volume of 2.5 m3 to a volume of 1.0 m3 via an isothermal compression at 27°C. (a
zysi [14]

Answer:

Part a)

Q = 3198 J

Part b)

It is compression of gas so this is energy transferred to the gas

Explanation:

Part a)

Energy transfer during compression of gas is same as the work done on the gas

In isothermal process work done is given by the equation

W = nRT ln(\frac{V_2}{V_1})

now we know that

n = 1.4 moles

T = 27 degree C = 300 K

V_2 = 2.5 m^3

V_1 = 1 m^3

now we have

W = (1.4)(8.31)(300)(ln\frac{2.5}{1})

Q = 3198 J

Part b)

It is compression of gas so this is energy transferred to the gas
