Fats are a class of lipids known as triglycerides.

Further Explanation:

The three main macronutrients of the body are carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The macronutrients are molecules which are required by the body in large amounts. Fats are primarily composed of long chains hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. They are hydrophobic in nature and are not soluble in water but are dissolvable in organic solvents. Fats are often used as a lipid synonym along with oils. Oils are generally liquid at room temperature due to the presence of unsaturated fatty acid chains whereas, fats appear to be solid at room temperature.

Fats have both metabolic and structural functions. They necessary in the diet as they can store energy most efficiently and for a long duration of time. When the energy is required, these stored fats are broken down into smaller particle through lipases which are formed in the pancreas.

Fats can be grouped as saturated and unsaturated fats. The fat molecule in which the double bond is absent between the adjacent carbons in the chain is called saturated fats. The presence of one or more double bonds is a characteristic feature of unsaturated fats. Some fats have a large number of double bonds and hence are called polyunsaturated fats.

The arrangement of saturated fats is closely packed, so they remain intact and are observed as solid at room temperature. For example, the content of saturated fatty acid in animal fat is very high and they remain as solids. Olive oils have more unsaturated fatty acids and therefore remain in liquid form. Fats act as both the energy storage material in the body as well as the energy source of the body. The breakdown of fats results in the formation of fatty acids and glycerol. The glycerol is then converted into glucose which is used as the energy source.

What part of the male urogenital tract is shared by the urinary and reproductive systems?
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

the urethra

Explanation:

The urethra is a tube like structure made of smooth muscles with mucus membrane. It also processes erectile tissue and is 20 cm long. It runs through the penis and opens outside through orifice. It is a common passage for the discharge of urine and semen in males. Urine from urinary bladder pass into the urethra and through the vas deferens semen is passed into the urethra.

Pros of Biofuel
Pleas help it’s urgent
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

Pros of Biofuels

Renewable – Biofuels are produced from plants and other organic material, so it can be replenished constantly. This is in contrast to the fossil fuels, which are constantly in the process of being depleted.

Clean – Biofuels are environment-friendly. They are much efficient & cleaner than fossil fuels, producing less air pollution and using materials that would otherwise be considered as waste products. Biofuels cause much less greenhouse gas emissions in comparison to the conventional types of transport fuels.

Inexpensive – They can be made easily by using local materials. Biofuels are very cheap to afford. They are the cheapest types of fuels available in the world.

Flexible – can be easily mixed with other fuels.

Additives – Biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel are better for car engines than fossil fuels. Even if not being used as the main fuel source, they can be used as additives to improve performance.

Carbon neutral – the amount of carbon dioxide created by the burning of biofuels is equal to the CO2 absorption capacity of the plants. Hence, no extra CO2 remains in the atmosphere.

Circle the recombinant DNA constructs below:
Gekata [30.6K]

The correct answer is that a bacteriophage lambda chromosome containing the human collagen gene, because Recombinant DNA is the name given to DNA molecules that have part of DNA derived from two or more sources, usually these sources are different species. Recombinant DNA technology is also known as molecular cloning or even gene cloning.

B. A bacteriophage lambda chromosome containing the human collagen gene

How is recombinant DNA produced?

Obtaining recombinant DNA is based on the molecular cloning technique. The process can be summarized as follows:

 1. The first step is to isolate a DNA fragment, which contains the gene of interest. Remember that each gene makes a protein.
 2. The gene of interest, now isolated, is placed in a medium with a fragment of circular bacterial DNA, the plasmid and the restriction enzymes.
 3. The bacterial plasmid has the ability to insert a fragment of DNA external to its own genome.

What is DNA and what is it for?

DNA is the structure responsible for the transmission of all genetic characteristics — such as eye, skin and hair color, physiognomy, among others — in the process of reproduction of living beings. Thus, the main function of DNA is to transport information contained in its sequences, called genes.
