The correct option is D.

Thermal energy is the energy derived from heat. To separate the mixture of salt and water, heat has to be applied to the mixture. The energy from the heat will make the molecules of the water to gain kinetic energy and to move around the container more rapidly until the inter molecular forces between the molecules are broken and they escape as steam into the atmosphere. It is only the salt particles that will be left behind after all the water has evaporated.

D.

The water must be heated and removed in distillation, so thermal energy is required.

How many moles of potassium are contained in 449 g of potassium?.
stira [4]

Answer:

12.8 moles of potassium

Explanation:

449 g/39.10 g = 12.76 moles

First, you divide 449 g of potassium by its molar mass which is 39.10 g. Then you will get your answer, but you need to round it to 3 numbers because of Sig Figs, which makes it 12.8 moles.

A solution containing a mixture of metal cations was treated as follows. 1. Dilute HCl was added and a precipitate formed. The p
Tpy6a [65]

Answer:

Explanation:

None of the listed atoms are definitely present, as there is no way to tell from the limited information. Likewise, we know from the chart of the seperation of cations that Ba2+ and Ca2+ have no chance of being there, since they form precipitates when carbonate is added. Ag+, Pb2+, and Hg2^2+ have no chance of being there either, since they form precipitates when dilute HCl is first added. The rest on the list are all possibly
