Which is more 4/5 or 0.71? Because decimals are usually easier to read, convert the 4/5 to a decimal. To do this, divide the numerator by the denominator. 4 / 5 = 0.8. 

0.8 is bigger than 0.71. So, 4/5 is definitely bigger than 0.71.

But what about 1.2 and 1 2/9? Again convert 1 2/9 to a decimal.

2/9 = 1.222...

And 1.222 repeating is bigger than 1.2
