1) Write the balanced equation

2 H2O ----> 2 H2 + O2

2) State the molar ratios:

2 mol H2O : 2 mol H2 : 1 mol O2.

3) Write the proportion with the theoretical ratios and the actual data:

[2 mol H2 / 1 mol O2 ] = x mol H2 /  6.28 mol O2]

You can realize that this tells that the number of moles of H2 produced is the double of the number of moles of O2 produced.

4) Solve for x

x = 6.28 mol O2 *  2 mol H2 / 1 mol O2 = 12.56 mol O2.

ΔH is always positive for a ...........
scoray [572]

Answer:

a. endothermic reaction

Explanation:

In an endothermic reaction, heat is absorbed from the environment. This leaves the surrounding at a colder temperature compared to the system.

ΔH, the change in enthalpy is assigned a positive sign because the heat energy level of the final state is higher than that of the initial state.

Some examples are mostly dissolution substances in water.

4al + 3o2 → 2al2o3 indicate how many electrons are transferred in the formation of one formula unit of product.
nekit [7.7K]

The balanced reaction is:

4 Al  +  3 O2  -->  2 Al2O3

Each Aluminum atom wants to lose 3 electrons to become isoelectronic with Oxygen. Each Oxygen on the other hand wants to gain 2 electrons. Since the reaction shows 6 Oxygen atoms in the product and each want to gain 2 electrons, therefore a total of 12 electrons are transferred. Since the problem ask for the electrons transferred per formula unit, hence:

6 electrons         (ANSWER)
