Answer: 2 buses and 4 vans would be needed

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of buses that would be needed.

Let y represent the number of vans that would be needed.

There will be six drivers, and two different types of vehicles. This means that

x + y = 6

142 students are going on a field trip. A bus can hold 51 people while a van can hold 10. This means that

51x + 10y = 142 - - - - - - - - - - - 1

Substituting x = 6 - y into equation 1, it becomes

51(6 - y) + 10y = 142

306 - 51y + 10y = 142

- 51y + 10y = 142 - 306

- 41y = - 164

y = - 164/ - 41

y = 4

x = 6 - y = 6 - 4

x = 2

Vivian wants to buy a charm bracelet. Oxford Fine Jewelry charges $7 per charm, plus $51 for the bracelet. Sullivan Jewelers, in
klasskru [66]

Create two equations:

Oxford: 51 + 7c

Sullivan: 53 + 5c

C is the number of charms.

Now set the two equations equal to each other and solve for c:

51 + 7c = 53 + 5c

Subtract 5c from each side:

51 + 2c = 53

Subtract 51 from each side:

2c = 2

Divide both sides by 2:

C = 2/2

C = 1

When she buys 1 charm the price will be the same.

Theprice would be 51 + 7 = $58, or 53 + 5 = $58

The cost of the bracelet will be $ 58 if Vivian adds 1

charms to it.

Find the sum 3/5 plus 1/2
adelina 88 [10]
First you have to do 3/5 times 2/2 and 1/2 times 2/2 because you have to find there common denominator. Then you add up the numerators. But make sure you don't add up the denominators. Hope this helped. And please mark me the brainiest.

Find a report in a newspaper magazine or on the Internet that uses results from a servery. Evaluate how the survey uses ratios t
Alex17521 [72]
To do this,find anything like you mentioned that has a survey. Now a survey must use ratios to get conclusion because you must first figure out how many people out of the entire group are divided to get an answer. Lets say you take a survey over ice cream. You survevy 40 people. 25 people vote vanilla,10 vote chocolate,and 5 vote strawberry. You would use these ideas to conclude that most people like vanilla and not very many people like strawberry. Hope this makes sense :)
