<u>Answer/Explanation</u>:

<em>a. Equal division.</em>

<em>$235,000 / 2 = $117,500.</em>

<em>b. In the ratio of original investments.</em>

<em>For Samantha = 65,000 / (65000+195000) * 100 = 25%;</em>

<em>25% of $235,000= $58,750.</em>

<em>For Sally = 195,000 / (65000+195000) * 100 = 75%;</em>

<em>75% of $235,000= $176,250</em>

<em>c. In the ratio of time devoted to the business.</em>

<em>For Sally = 1 x $235,000 = $235,000</em>

<em>For Samantha= 1/2 x $235,000.</em>

<em>d. Interest of 5% on original investments and the remainder equally.</em>

<em>Interest</em>

<em>For Sally= 5% of $195,000 = $9,750</em>

<em>For Samantha= 5% of $65,000 = $3,250.</em>

<em>The remainder= 235,000 - 3,250 + 9750 = $222,000/2= $111,000 equally.</em>

<em>e. Interest of 5% on original investments, salary allowances of $50,000 to Sally and $85,000 to Samantha, and the remainder equally</em>

<em>Interest</em>

<em>For Sally= 5% of $195,000 = $9,750</em>

<em>For Samantha= 5% of $65,000 = $3,250.</em>

<em>The remainder= 235,000 - (9750+50000+3250+85000)= $87,000</em>

<em>(g), except that Samantha is also to be allowed a bonus equal to 20% of the amount by which net income exceeds the total salary allowances</em>

<em>Total salary allowances= $85,000+$65,000=$150,000;</em>

<em>Net income exceeds value by $235,000-$150,000= $85,000</em>

<em>Therefore, 20% of 85,000 = $8,500 as bonus.</em>

Luke Anderson is earning $48,000 a year in a city located in the Midwest. He is interviewing for a position in a city with a cos
Kitty [74]

The minimum requirement of salary = $53760

<u>Explanation:</u>

Cost of living in city is 12 percent higher than where Luke Anderson lives. So, Luke Anderson will require 12 percent higher salary than existing salary in order to maintain the existing standard of living

<u>The calculations are as follows. </u>

Current salary of Luke Anderson = $48000

12 percent increase = 48000 multiply with 12 percent = 5760

Thus, the required minimum salary = 48000+ 5760 = 53760

So, Luke Anderson will require minimum salary of $53760

A firm wishes to issue new shares of its stock, which already trades in the market. The current stock price is $24, the most rec
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

17.83%

Explanation:

The computation of required rate of return is shown below:-

Required rate of return = ((Expected dividend ÷ (Current Stock price × (1 - Flotation cost as a percentage of issue price)) + Growth rate)) × 100

= ((Dividend × (1 + Growth rate)) ÷ Current Price of stock × (1 - Flotation cost as a percentage of issue price)) + Growth rate))) × 100

= ($3 × (1.04) ÷ $24 × (1 - 0.06) + 0.04) × 100

= ($3.12 ÷ $22.56 + 0.04) × 100

= (0.138297872  + 0.04) × 100

= 17.82978723

or

= 17.83%

Therefore we have applied the above formula.

Ritchie Manufacturing Company makes a product that it sells for $150 per unit. The company incurs variable manufacturing costs o
Gnesinka [82]

Answer:

<u>Using equation method we have,</u>

Sales - variable cost = Fixed Cost

Let number of units be X, at break even then,

$150 X - ($60 + $18) X = ($480,000 + $240,000)

$150 X - $78 X = $720,000

$72 X = $720,000

<u>X = $720,000/$72 = 10,000 units.</u>

<u>Using contribution income statement</u>

Contribution margin per unit approach = Selling price - Variable cost = Contribution = $150 - $60 - $18 = $72 per unit

Total fixed cost = Fixed Manufacturing cost  + Fixed Selling & Administrative

= $480,000 + $240,000 = $720,000

<u>Break Even Point = \frac{Fixed\ Cost}{Contribution\ Per\ Unit}</u>

<u>= \frac{720,000}{72} = 10,000</u>

<u></u>

<u>Contribution margin Income Statement:</u>

Sales value = $150 \times 10,000 = $1,500,000

Less: Variable Cost

Manufacturing = $60 \times 10,000 = ($600,000)

Selling Expense = $18 \times 10,000 = ($180,000)

Contribution Margin = $720,000

Less: Fixed Cost

Fixed Manufacturing Cost = ($480,000)

Fixed Selling Expense = ($240,000)

Profit = $0
