Answer:

(a) 8 m/s

(b) 5 s

Explanation:

(a)

Using newton's equation of motion,

v² = u²+2gs ..................... Equation 1

Where v = final velocity, u = initial velocity, g = acceleration due to gravity at the surface of moon, s = height reached.

make u the subject of the equation,

u² = v²-2gs

u = √(v²-2gs)................ Equation 2

Note: As the stone is thrown up, v = 0 m/s, g is negative

Given: v = 0 m/s, s = 20 m, g = -1.6 m/s²

Substitute into equation 2

u = √(0-2×20×[-1.6])

u = √64

u = 8 m/s.

(b)

Using,

v = u+ gt

Where t = time of flight to reach the maximum height.

Make t the subject of the equation,

t = (v-u)/g................................... Equation 3

Given: v =  0 m/s, u = 8 m/s, g = - 1.6 m/s²

Substitute into equation 3

t = (0-8)/-1.6

t = -8/-1.6

t = 5 seconds.

If your vehicle has a steering wheel lock, should you ever turn off the ignition while it is moving?
umka2103 [35]

It is not advisable to turn off the ignition while it is moving, so it is a no. Why? Even though the vehicle has steering wheel lock, turning off the ignition while it is moving is not advisable because it causes the vehicle to lose out of control, leading to complications and accidents.

A planet has been observed orbiting a nearby star. This star has a mass of 3.5 solar masses, and the planet is 4.2 AU from the s
kondaur [170]

Answer:

4.6 years

Explanation:

This is solved using Kepler's third law which says:

T^2=\frac{4\pi ^2}{GM} a^2

Where

T = Orbital period of the planet (in seconds)

a = Distance from the star (in meters)

G = Gravitational constant

M = Mass of the parent star (in kg)

From the information given

M = 3.5M_{sun} = 6.96*10^{30} kg

a=4.2AU = 6.28*10^{11} meters

G = 6.67*10^{-11}m^3kg^{-1}s^{-2}

We put this into Kepler's law and get:

T=\sqrt{\frac{4\pi ^2}{6.67*10^{-11}*6.96*10^{30}} (6.28*10^{11})^3}=145,128,196 seconds.

This when converted to years is 4.6 years.

Two 1.9 kg masses are 1.1 m apart (center to center) on a frictionless table. Each has + 9.6 μC of charge.
Anni [7]

Answer:

F= 0.6 N

Explanation:

Fe(electrical force)=k q1q2/r^2

    k=9*10^9\\q1=-9.6 *10^-6 C\\q2= -9.6*10^-6 C\\r= 1.1m

So,

        F=\frac{9*10^9*-9.6 *10^-6 C* -9.6*10^-6 C}{1.1^2}

         F= 0.6 N

At a wedding reception, you notice a child who looks like their mass is about 25 kg running across the dance floor then sliding
Vitek1552 [10]

Mass of the object m = 25 kg

Coefficient of friction Uk = 0.15

Frictional force Ff = Uk x F => Ff = Uk x m x g

Ff = 0.15 x 25 x 9.8

Frictional Force Ff = 36.75 N
