Chemistry

Answer:

The answer is Xe

Explanation:

An element is a substance that cannot be broken down by an ordinary chemical process. Atoms of the same elements contain the same number of protons. The periodic table has all the elements currently used in chemistry and can be a guide in determining elements.

A molecule is an electrically neutral substance usually containing one or more group of atoms.

All the options provided in the question are molecules but all options other than Xenon (Xe) and hydrogen gas (H2) are compounds. A compound is a substance made up of two or more different atoms held together by chemical bonds. From this definition, we can see that both potassium chloride (KCl) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are compounds as they are made up of different atoms. KCl has both potassium (K) and chlorine (Cl) while CO2 has both carbon (C) and oxygen (O).

Hydrogen gas (H2) is a molecule but it has two atoms of hydrogen and cannot represent hydrogen element because it is denoted as H2 while what is in the periodic table of elements is represented as H. The reason an atom cannot be represented as an element is because an atom is the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical reaction and still maintain its chemical properties. H2 is what can take part in a chemical reaction, not H.

Xenon (Xe) is an element that can be found in the periodic table. It has an atomic number of 54 and it is found in the group zero of the periodic table. Elements found in group zero are called noble gases because they are stable (electrically neutral) which makes them resist undergoing chemical reaction. These elements (in this case Xe) also exist naturally (alone) because they are electrically neutral and can hence be referred to as a molecule and an element.

An element is a substance that can not be broken into simpler parts by chemical means. Elements are made up of atoms. A molecule is the smallest particle of an element or a compound that has the same properties as the element or the compound. A molecule is made up of two or more atoms . A substance may be an element and a molecule. In this case the answer is, H2 (hydrogen gas) which is a molecule with two atoms of hydrogen and an element.

What is the change in freezing
loris [4]

-1.09'C is the change in freezing point

“Freezing point depression” depends on the solvent and the molar concentration of the solute.

Sulfide is highly basic, consequently

K2S

completely and irreversibly hydrolyzes in water according to the following equation:

K2S+H2O→KOH+KSH

What is freezing?

Freezing, also known as solidification, is a phase transition where a liquid turns into a solid when its temperature is lowered below its freezing point.

the temperature at which a liquid solidifies specifically : the temperature at which the liquid and solid states of the substance are in equilibrium at atmospheric pressure : melting point the freezing point of water is 0° Celsius or 32° Fahrenheit.

Sulfur hexafluoride, SF6, is a very stable, nonflammable gas at room temperature. It
Ira Lisetskai [31]
The first answer choice is correct: SF6 is a compound: it is a substance composed of more than one atom from different elements (sulfur and fluorine).

The second answer choice is incorrect: while SF6 is indeed a compound that contains seven atoms, those atoms are not identical since one is a sulfur atom and six are fluoride atoms.

The third answer choice is incorrect: SF6 is not an element because it can be separated chemically into simpler substances that are elements. All the atoms comprising an element must have the same number of protons (the same atomic number); sulfur and fluorine have different atomic numbers. There is no single nucleus in SF6; the S and six F atoms each has their own nucleus.

The fourth answer choice is incorrect; SF6 contains no carbon atom, and so wouldn’t meet a central criterion for an organic compound. Moreover, the formula SF6 indicates that the sulfur atom is not bonded to any other atom apart from fluorine atoms, and there are no bonding electrons left on the S. There is no plausible reason to think that a molecule with such weak intermolecular attractions as SF6 would form long chains of S atoms. Indeed, in standard conditions, SF6 is a gas.

Which compound will precipitate when solutions of iron(II) acetate, Fe(C2H3O2)2, and potassium iodide (KI) are mixed?
oksano4ka [1.4K]
FeI2 (B). Group 1 elements (K) dissociate completely, so KCH3CO2 will become K+ and CH3CO2- . Fe2+ and I- don't dissociate in water, so you get FeI2(s) precipitate.

Fission creates large amounts of: A.uranium B.air pollution C.carbon dioxide D.radioactive waste
Vaselesa [24]

Answer: -

Fission creates large amounts of radioactive waste.

Explanation: -

During nuclear fission, by products are formed. These by products are radioactive in nature. They give radiation. These radiation causes a lot of harm to humans including cancer and mutations.

Thus, Fission creates large amounts of radioactive waste.
