(r + 10)(r - 4)

To double check:
r * r is r^2

10 * r = 10r; -4 * r = -4r
Combine to get 6r.

-4 * 10 = -40

a rectangular room is 4 times as long as it is wide and it's perimeter is 60 meters find the dimension of the room
olya-2409 [2.1K]

To answer this problem we have to use two different variables. For example...

L = Length

W = Width

So we know that the definition of perimeter is

L + L + W + W (or all the sides added up)

Now we also know that The Length is 4 times longer than the width.

So we can write 4W to replace the L

So in the given equation we set up Replace every L with 4W

4W + 4W + W + W = 60 meters

now group our W's

10W = 60 divide both sides by 10 to get W to be alone

÷10   = ÷10 It cancels on the left side and we solve on the right side.

W = 6

So now that we know what the width equals we can find what the length equals .

Remember this?

4W = L (plug in 6 for W)

4(6) = L

So L = 24

Our dimensions of this rectangle are length 24, width 6.

Good Luck! :)

Find the solutions to the equation below.
dybincka [34]

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the quadratic formula to find the solutions.

−b±√b2−4(ac)2a-b±b2-4(ac)2a

Substitute the values a=9a=9, b=0b=0, and c=−81c=-81 into the quadratic formula and solve for xx.

x=±3x=±3

The final answer is the combination of both solutions.

x=3,−3x=3,-3
