Fire is a tetrahedron because four elements are involved to ignite a fire. The four elements are oxygen that supports combustion, heat to raise the ignition temperature of the substance, fuel to encourage the combustion and chemical reaction that occur in middle of three elements.

The fire is classified into five classes are,

1. Class A: It is ignited by ordinary combustible substance such as cloth, wood and paper etc.

2. Class B: Ignition occurs in flammable liquids such as kerosene, petroleum, alcohol and gasoline etc.

3. Class C: This type of fire involved energized electrical equipments such as computer, servers, transformer and motor etc.

4. Class D: Ignited with the help of combustible metal such as magnesium, sodium and zirconium etc.

5. Class K: Fire caused by cooking oil such as vegetable and animal oil.

Fire extinguishers are occur in several form based on fire classification such as,

1. Water and Foam: It helps in extinguishing fire by withdrawing the heating element and by unconnecting the oxygen supply. It is used only for Class A fires.

2. Carbon Dioxide: It extinguishes the fire by removing oxygen supply and by taking away heat with a cold release. It is used for Class B and Class C fires only.

3. Dry Chemical: It extinguishes the fire by creating the wall between oxygen and fuel. It used for Class B and Class C fire.
