Answer:

To set your intensity level, you need to use your maximum heart rate, which is determined by subtracting age from 220.

Explanation:

To calculate the intensity of physical exertion it is important to know the Reserve Heart Rate or the Karvonen Method as follows:

  • Step 1 - Obtain the Maximum Heart Rate

Just subtract from 220 your age in years: HRmax = 220 - age (years)

  • Step 2 - Get Your Resting Heart Rate

The correct way is to place the middle and index fingers of your right hand on the inside of your left wrist, two inches below the base of your thumb. As soon as you feel the pulse of the radial artery, watch your watch and based on the time of 60 seconds, count the number of times you feel the pulse of the artery.

  • Step 3 - Obtain Heart Rate Reserve

To do this, subtract the resting heart rate from the maximum heart rate.

The best response that the nurse could give to the client is that the procedure that she or he is performing is wrong for it could cause harm to eye, promoting injury or could lead to blindness. It is best that the nurse should teach the client the proper way to do it in a proper procedure and where the eyedrops are not targeted in the middle of the eye.
