One effect of acid rain on an ecosystem is?

Biology

Answer: The death of fish in an acquatic ecosystem

Explanation:

The ecosystems which may suffer the most with the effect of the acid rain are the aquatic ecosystems such as lakes, rivers, streams, and the ocean. For example, if acid rain falls into a lake, the acidity of that lake will change and several fish (A) will die.

Bigger fish (B) which feed from fish (A) will suffer the reduction of food and as a consequence will also die. Following individuals of that same trophic chain will be affected so the energy flow will be altered. The ecosystem will suffer the consequence of being contaminated with the acid rain.

What provides evidence of an increase in animal species at the same time that atmospheric oxygen concentrations increased?
12345 [234]

Answer:

Fossil records provide evidence of an increase in animal species at the same time that atmospheric oxygen levels increased.

Explanation:

A huge diversification among animal species occurred with the increase in the levels of atmospheric oxygen. The reason why the number of species increased drastically was that a whole new world opened up, the land. The land was open for exploitation and taking over, with every single niche free, so animals diversified and filled in pretty much all of the niches. The fossil records give us clues when this happened, as from only microorganisms there is a sharp rise in complex animals, coinciding with the increase of oxygen levels.

If it wasn't for the increase of atmospheric oxygen though this wouldn't have been possible. The oxygen in the atmosphere enabled animals to breathe on land. Also, it cooled off the global temperatures which were too high before the increase of atmospheric oxygen, making them suitable for life. And last but not least, the atmospheric oxygen resulted in the formation of the ozone layer, a layer that started to act as protection from the UV rays.

Autonomic regulation of heart rate is via two reflex centers found in the pons. True or False
prisoha [69]

Answer:

Autonomic regulation of heart is via two reflex centers that are found in medulla oblongata

Explanation:

Medulla oblongata contain long stem that makes the upper part of brain case and this is a cone shaped structure which is responsible for autonomic regulation like controlling heart rate, vomiting, respiration, breathing etc.

The heart rate is controlled by autonomic nervous system that are mainly sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system that releases hormones like catecholamine (epinephrine and non epinephrine) which helps in controlling the heart rate.

Medulla oblongata mainly connects the brain with the spinal cord that are responsible for responsible for the autonomic functions which contain -

Controlling the ventilation via signalling system regulated by chemo receptors  which detects change in acidity of the blood.

Acts on cardiovascular centers.

Controlling the reflex centers like vomiting, coughing, sneezing, swallowing etc.
