In a forest ecosystem, Clover plants are producers whose leaves and stems are eaten herbivores (primary consumer) such as deer. In turn, deer is eaten by secondary consumer wolves. On the death of primary and secondary consumers, scavengers such as vultures eat their flesh. Thus, clover – deer – wolf and scavengers constitute a food chain. If in the given food chain population of clover suddenly decreases, the population of deer will decrease in want of food. As a result, the population of wolves would decrease in want of food, but the population of scavengers would increase due to an increase in the food by the death of deer and wolves.
