Prior to the invention of the printing press in the mid-1400s, the process of producing fi ne books, called illuminated manuscrip

ts, was strictly manual and performed by skilled craftsmen. A scribe would copy the manuscript in ornate handwriting (or calligraphy) from an original text called an exemplar, and artists decorated (or illuminated) the books with pictures. It is estimated that an apprentice scribe could initially copy approximately 50 lines per day. This roughly translates to about 15 minutes per line for a scribe just starting out. A scribe was generally thought to have completed his apprenticeship and was considered a craftsman after completing eight books where each book consisted of about 17,000 lines. (After eight books a scribe would show little additional improvement in accurate copying speed.) Assuming a learning curve of 91%, how long would it take for an experienced scribe to copy a line, and how many lines could he copy in a day?

An unopened cereal box contains `15/28` cubic foot of cereal. If the box is full, and the length and height of the box are `5/7`
VikaD [51]

Answer:

1/2ft

Step-by-step explanation:

15/28=(5/7)(1 1/2)(w)

15/28=(5/7)(3/2)w

15/28=(15/14)w

(15/28)/(15/14)=w

(15/28)*(14/15)=w

w=14/28

w=1/2 ft

Evan is thinking of a number that contains the digit 2. The digit 2 in Evan's number has 10 times the value of the digit 2 in th
Len [333]

Answer:

200,000

Step-by-step explanation:

The number Evan could be thinking about is 200,000. I got this number because the value of the digit 2 in the number 328,907 is 20,000. Also, the number Evan is thinking about is 10 times the value of 20,000. So, I did 20,000 times 10 and got 200,000.

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that a^2+b^2=c^2 from the Pythagorean theorem   where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse

4^2+3^2 = c^2

16+9 = c^2

25 = c^2

Taking the square root of each side

sqrt(25) = sqrt(c^2)

5 =c
