The results that is obtained from correlation  may be positive, negative or no relation. When both the variables that is taken into consideration either increase or decrease at the same instance then it is said to be positively correlated.

When one variable increase the other variable decreases and this is said to be a negative correlation. When there exists no relation between the considered variables then it is said to have zero correlation. In the example give, the association between the women who breast-fed their babies  and who were not is studies. Hence this is an example of correlation.
