If the intial count was 100,000 bacteria, after one hour 90% decrease => 10 % stands => 100,000*0.1 bacetria. After two hours 90% decrease => 10% stands => 100,000*0.1^2. After three hours, they stand 100,000 * 0.1^3. After four hours, 100,000*0.1^4 and after five hours 100,000*0.1^5 = 1 bacteria. Answer: 1 bacteria. If the inital count is different you just have to muliply the inicial count time (0.1^n) to get the number of bacteria after n hours, and if the number of hours is 5, then the factor is (0.1^5).

For this case we have a function of the form:

y = A * (b) ^ x

Where,

A: initial amount of bacteria:

b: decrease rate

x: time in hours

Substituting values we have:

y = 100 * (0.90) ^ x

After 5 hours we have:

y = 100 * (0.90) ^ 5\\y = 59.049

Rounding to the nearest whole number:

y = 59

Answer:

the bacterium count after 5 hours was:

y = 59

Ryan bought 3 books and a magazine . He paid $30 and relieved $5 change if the magazine cost twice as much as each book, find th
Montano1993 [528]

The books are $5, and the magazines are $10. I’m not sure which way you want it explained but since magazines are twice the price of books, you can solve the equation 3b + 2b = 25. This gives you b=5 which you just multiply by 2 giving you the price of a magazine.

PLEASE help. The problem is to find the indicated sum.
alukav5142 [94]
The indicated sum is 350. The answer is 350 because the E or sigma is making you do (6j+2) ten times. Every time you do 6j+2 you start with j as 1 and add a 1 to j for every time you add. For example, [6(1)+2]+[6(2)+2]+[6(3)+2]...[6(10)+2].

Hope this helps.
