(6) (Bonus) A rectangular box has its edges changing length as time passes. At a particular instant, the sides have lengths a =

150 feet, b = 80 feet, and c = 50 feet. At that instant, a is increasing at 100 feet/sec, b is decreasing 20 feet/sec, and c is increasing at 5 feet/sec. Determine if the volume of the box is increasing, decreasing, or not changing at all, at that instant.

Answer:

Increasing,310000ft^3/s

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that

a=150 feet

b=80 feet

c=50 feet

\frac{da}{dt}=100ft/s

\frac{db}{dt}=-20ft/s

\frac{dc}{dt}=5ft/s

We have to find the volume of the box  of the box increasing,decreasing or not changing at all at that instant.

We know that

Volume of box=lbh

Using the formula

Volume of box,V=abc

Differentiate w.r.t t

\frac{dV}{dt}=\frac{da}{dt}bc+\frac{db}{dt}(ac)+\frac{dc}{dt}(ab)

Substitute the values

\frac{dV}{dt}=100(80\times 50)-20(150\times 50)+5(150\times 80)

\frac{dV}{dt}=310000ft^3/s

Hence, the volume of the box is increasing .

a cylinder and a cone start with the same radius and height the radius of the cone is then trippled and the height of the cone i
Fittoniya [83]

Answer:

Therefore the cone is the greatest relative increase in volume.

Step-by-step explanation:

Cone:

Original cone = (1/3)π(h)r^2

Changed cone = (1/3)π(h/2)(3r)^2

= (1/2)(1/3)π(h)9r^2

= (9/2) * Original cone

=4.5 * Original cone

Cylinder:

Original cylinder = π(h)r^2

Changed cylinder = π(2h)r^2

=2 * Original cylinder

Therefore the cone is the greatest relative increase in volume.

Which three-dimensional figure has half the number of vertices as the rectangular prism?
GuDViN [60]
1. The rectangular prism is a right prism with rectangular bases (check the picture)

2. It has 8 vertices, so we are looking for 3d figures with 4 vertices.

3. A face can have at least 3 vertices, and the 4th must be outside of the plane determined by the first 3 vertices. This makes 4 vertices in total.

4. The 3d figure described in step 3 is a pyramid.
