Hello! Autotrophs make their own food (plants) and heterotrophs consume other organisms for energy (consumers.) Autotrophs use the process of photosynthesis to produce the oxygen as one of its products. Heterotrophs use the oxygen produced by the autotrophs to perform cellular respiration, which releases carbon dioxide that plants use; it's a balanced cycle. Hope this helps!

Plants are referred to as autotrophs. Auto– means "self," and in this case, –troph means "feeding." Autotrophs are those organisms that make their own food. All plants are autotrophs, and so are algae and many bacteria. Organisms that are unable to produce glucose through photosynthesis are called heterotrophs. Heterotrophs obtain organic food molecules for energy and nutrition by eating other organisms or by eating and absorbing by-products of other organisms.

Together the insulin and glucagon help maintain a state is known as homeostasis in which conditions inside the body remain steady.

What is homeostasis?

Homeostasis refers to the mechanism of the body to maintain a stable internal environment instead of changes taking place in the external environment.

When blood sugar is too high, the pancreas secretes more insulin. When blood sugar levels drop, the pancreas releases glucagon to raise them.

Why is the force of friction between two blocks reduced by adding dishwashing liquid between them?
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

The force of friction is reduced between the blocks by adding the dishwashing liquid because the liquid is slippery and this makes it difficult for the two surfaces to contact each other directly. Therefore the blocks slip past each other rather than grinding against each other, producing less friction.
