A uniform bridge, 20 m long and weighing 40000 N is supported by two pillars located 3.0 m from each end. If a 19600 N car is pa

Let the forces on two pillars are N1 and N2

so we will have force balance equation as

N_1 + N_2 = 40000 + 19600

N_1 + N_2 = 59600 N

also by torque balance we will have

N_2\times L = 40000 ]times \frac{L}{2} + 19600 \times 8

here we know that

L = 20 m

N_2 (20 m) = 40000 (10 m) + 19600 (8 m)

N_2 = 27840 N

N_1 = 59600 - 27840 = 31760 N

At time t = 0 a car has a velocity of 16 m/s. It slows down with an acceleration given by
Leni [432]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

We know the inital velocity is 16 m/s

Acclereation is -0.5 m/s^2

And that final velocity is 0

We need to find time

v _{f} = v _{i} + at

0 = 16 + ( - 0.5)t

- 16 =  - 0.5t

32 = t

The answer is B

What aspect of motion can you conclude is common among freely falling objects ?
Liula [17]

Answer:

Free-fall is defined as the movement where the only force acting on an object is the gravitational force.

By the second Newton's law, we have that:

F = m*a

Where F = Force, m = mass, a = acceleration.

We can write this as:

a = F/m

And the gravitational force can be written as:

F = (G*M/r^2)*m

Where G is the gravitational constant, M is the mass of the Earth in this case, and r is the distance between both objects (the center of the Earth and the free-falling object)

As the radius of the Earth is really big, the term inside the parentheses is almost constant in the region of interest, then we can write:

G*M/r^2 ≈ g

And the gravitational force is:

F = g*m

And by the second Newton's law we had:

a = F/m = (g*m)/m = g

a = g

Then the acceleration does not depend on the mass of the object.

Then the thing that is common among the free-falling objects is the vertical acceleration.
