A magnetic field has a magnitude of 1.20 10-3 t, and an electric field has a magnitude of 5.70 103 n/c. both fields point in the

same direction. a positive 1.8-c charge moves at a speed of 3.00 106 m/s in a direction that is perpendicular to both fields. determine the magnitude of the net force that acts on the charge.

Let's take the x,y,z axis such that the electric field E and the magnetic field B are on the x-axis and the velocity of the particle is on the y-axis.

The charge is q=1.8 \mu C=1.8 \cdot 10^{-6} C.

The electric force acting on the charge is
F_E = qE=(1.6 \cdot 10^{-6} C)(5.7 \cdot 10^3 N/C)=9.1 \cdot 10^{-3} N
and the direction is the same as the electric field, so on the x-axis.

The magnetic force acting on the charge is
F_B = qvB = (1.6 \cdot 10^{-6} C)(3 \cdot 10^6 m/s)(1.2 \cdot 10^{-3}T)=5.8 \cdot 10^{-3}N
and by using the right hand rule, we find that the direction of the force is on the z-axis.

So, the two forces Fe and Fb are perpendicular to each other. Therefore, the net force acting on the particle is the resultant of the two forces:
F= \sqrt{F_E^2+F_B^2}= \sqrt{(9.1 \cdot 10^{-3} N)^2+(5.8 \cdot 10^{-3}N)^2}  =0.011 N

A cyclist turns a corner with a radius of 50m at a speed of 10m/s. What is the cyclist's acceleration?
miv72 [106K]

2m/s²

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Radius = 50m

Speed = 10m/s

Unknown:

Acceleration of the cyclist

Solution:

The acceleration of the cyclist is directed inside of the corner because his motion is inward. This is a form of centripetal acceleration;

Centripetal acceleration is given by;

     a = \frac{v^{2} }{r}

v is the velocity

r is the radius

   a =  \frac{10^{2} }{50} = 2m/s²

What is the physical meaning of the physics equation of a spring force vs displacement graph?
Vilka [71]

Explanation:

The force of a spring is described by Hooke's law:

F = kx

where k is the spring stiffness in N/m, and x is the displacement in m.

A spring force vs displacement graph is a line passing through the origin with a slope of k.

Answer:

Waxing crescent to Waxing gibbous

Explanation:

As the Moon goes around Earth and Earth goes around the Sun, the Moon shows us different phases throughout this journey. Also because of peculiar revolution period around the Earth the rise and set time of Moon changes daily. New Moon rises with the Sun rise and sets with Sun set. Waxing half rises in the mid of the day and sets at midnight. Full Moon rises after sunset and sets at sunrise.

The suitable phases will be from waxing crescent to waxing gibbous. The phase of the Moon, 3 days before the full Moon can be selected as the Moon will set by around 2.5 hours before the Sun rise.

A dolphin jumps out of the water. As it falls back down it a clerated at a rate of -9,8m/s^2 for 0.8 seconds of free fall. To ca
Anettt [7]

Answer:

0.196 m

Explanation:

Given in the question that,

time taken by the dolphin to go back to water = 0.2 sec

To solve the question we will use Newton's Law of motion

<h3>S = ut + 0.5(a)t²</h3>

here S is distance covered

u is initial speed

a = acceleration due to gravity

t = time taken

Plug value in the equation above

S = 0(0.2) + 0.5(-9.8)(0.2)²

S = 0.5(-9.8)(0.2)²

S = -0.196 m

Negative sign represent direction

(Assuming that dolphin have a vertical straight jump not a projectile motion)
