Editorial text is a type of journalistic text that usually appears at the beginning of columns. Unlike other texts that make up a newspaper, for informational purposes, editorials are opinionated texts written in the same structure as an essay (introduction, body and conclusion).

Although they are subjective texts, they may have some objectivity. This is because it is the editorials that present the subjects that will be covered in each section of the newspaper, ie Politics, Economy, Culture, Sport, Tourism, Country, City, Classifieds, among others.

Editorials are not news, but are often produced from some recent or historical fact. This means that in order to start an editorial we will always need a generating factor.
