Answer:

1.25 s

Explanation:

We are given that

Initial velocity of boy=u=0

Time=0.883 s

Let x be the total distance covered by boy in entire trip.

s=\frac{x}{2}

We know that

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}gt^2

Where g=10m/s^2

Substitute the values

\frac{x}{2}=0\times 0.883+\frac{1}{2}(10)(0.883)^2

\frac{x}{2}=3.898

x=3.898\times 2=7.796m

Again using the above formula

7.796=0(t)+\frac{1}{2}(10)t^2

7.796=5t^2

t^2=\frac{7.796}{5}=1.5592

t=\sqrt{1.5592}=1.25 s

Hence, 1.25 s passes during his entire tripe from the top down to the water.

As measured by an observer on the earth, a spacecraft runway on earth has a length of 3600 m. (a) What is the length of the runw
Veronika [31]

Answer:

a)  L= 3568 m

b) 9×10^{-5} sec

c)  8.92×10^{-5} sec

Explanation:

runway length on the Earth L_o = 3600 m

Speed of the spacecraft flying past  v= 4.00×10^7 m/s

then Einstein's length contraction theory,

L =L_o \sqrt{1- \frac{v^2}{c^2} }

L =3600\sqrt{1- \frac{(4\times10^7)^2}{(3\times10^8)^2}

Solving we get L= 3568 m

b) Time interval for an observer on earth when the spacecraft is directly over one end of the runway until it is directly over the other end.

L_o= 3600 m

speed v= 4.00×10^7 m/s

Then time interval Δt = L_o/v=  \frac{3600}{4\times10^7}=  9×10^{-5} sec

c)  for the pilot the time interval will be

Δt_o = L/v = \frac{3568}{4\times10^7} = 8.92×10^{-5} sec

If a baseball player hits a baseball from 4 feet off the ground with an initial velocity of 64 feet per second, how long will it
hichkok12 [17]
<h3><u>Answer;</u></h3>

A. <em><u>x = 2 +/- sqrt(17) / 2</u></em>

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • Using the equation given we can calculate the value of t, time taken by the basket ball to hit the ground.

h = -16t^2 + 64t + 4 \\0 = -16t^2 + 64t + 4 \\16t^2 - 64t - 4 = 0 \\4(4t^2 - 16t - 1) = 0 \\4t^2 - 16t - 1 = 0 \\t = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a \\t = (16 +/- sqrt(256 + 16)) / 8 \\t = (16 +/- sqrt(272)) / 8 \\t = (16 +/- 4 sqrt(17)) / 8 \\t= 2 +/- sqrt(17) / 2

(1 point) A gun has a muzzle speed of 90 meters per second. What angle of elevation θ, where 0≤θ≤π4, should be used to hit an ob
Likurg_2 [28]

Answer:

0.122 radians

Explanation:

Given that the muzzle speed is, u=90m/s

And the distance of the object is, s=200 m

And acceleration due to gravity is g=9.8 m/s^{2}

Therefore negative acceleration due to gravity for upward motion.

Now,

The x component of velocity will be, u_{x}=ucos\theta

The y component of velocity will be, u_{y}=usin\theta

And the horizontal displacement is given. Now horizontal displacement is,

s=u_{x}\times t

Here, u_{x} is horizontal velocity and t is time.

Substitute all the values in above equation, we get

s=ucos\theta\times t\\200=90cos\theta\times t\\t=\dfrac{200}{90cos\theta}\\t=\dfrac{20}{9cos\theta}

Now, in y direction we can calculate displacement and in y direction displacement is zero.

s_{y}=u_{y}t+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}

Substitute all the variables.

0=usin\theta t+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}\\0=90sin\theta (\frac{20}{9cos\theta})+\frac{1}{2}(-9.8 m/s^{2})\times (\frac{20}{9cos\theta})^{2} \\200tan\theta=4.9\times \frac{400}{81}\times \frac{1}{cos^{2}\theta}\\200sin\theta=\frac{24.1975}{cos\theta}\\ 2sin\theta cos\theta=0.241975\\sin2\theta=0.241975\\2\theta=sin^{-1}(0.241975)\\ \theta=0.122 radians

Therefore the required angle of elevation is 0.122 radians.
