This refers to something which increases the chances of disease and are of two types which are:

  • Modifiable risk factors
  • Non modifiable risk factors.

The Modifiable risk factors increases the chance of developing a disease but are modifiable while the Non modifiable risk factors can't be modified.


A good example of Modifiable risk factors include diabetes and obesity in which eating the right food and performing exercises will correct this medical condition while examples of Non modifiable risk factors include age, family history which can't be changed at all.
