Adenine bonded with thymine through two hydrogen bonds whereas the cytosine pairs with guanine via three hydrogen bonds. During DNA denaturation these hydrogen bonds are broken whereas during DNA replication these hydrogen bonds are formed between the nitrogenous bases.
