if its 5X 10^3 mm=5m and if its 5X 10^-3 mm=5X 10^-6m

we know,

1m= 1000mm

as given 5X 10^3 mm we have to convert to meter

now  5X 10^3 mm= 5X 10^3/1000=5m

but if its  5X 10^-3 mm= 5X 10^-3/1000= 5X 10^-6m
