Answer:

2 is the extraneous solution

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation is

\frac{2x}{x-2} -\frac{11}{x} =\frac{8}{x^2-2x}

Factor the denominator

\frac{2x}{x-2} -\frac{11}{x} =\frac{8}{x(x-2)}

LCD is x(x-2), multiply all the fractions by LCD

2x \cdot x-11(x-2)=8

2x^2-11x+22= 8, subtract 8 from both sides

2x^2-11x+14=0

factor the left hand side

2x^2-7x-4x+14= 0

x(2x-7)-2(2x-7)=0

(x-2)(2x-7)=0

x-2=0, so x=2

2x-7=0,  x=\frac{7}{2}

when x=2, then the denominator becomes 0 that is undefined

So 2 is the extraneous solution

the length of tangent is 15 cm drawn from point whose distance from center of circle is 17 cm find the radius of circle
svp [43]

Answer:

Then what is the radius of the circle? Since, the tangent of any point of a line is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact. Hence, radius of the circle = 8 cm.

maksim [4K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Comment

The first step is to find the surface area of 1 fence post.

The formula is

Area_ends = 2 pi r^2 for the ends.

Area_body = 2*pi*r * h

Givens

r = d/2          r is the radius ; d is the diameter

r = 1/2 foot

h = 10 feet

Solution

1 fence post

Area = ends + area body

Area =  2*3.14 * (1/2)^2 + 2 * pi * r * h

Area = 2*3.14* (1/2)^2 + 2 * 3.14 * 1/2 * 10

Area = 1.57 + 31.4

Area = 32,97 square feet.

10 fence posts

10*32.97 = 329.7 square feet

Answer

10 fence posts have 329.7 square feet in area.
