6x + 7 = 8x - 17
6x- 8x = -17 - 7
-2x = -24 • divide both sides by -2
Thefore x = 12

A yard cleanup service charges a $345 fee plus $16.25 per hour. Another cleanup service charges a $213 fee plus $24.50 per hour.
Thepotemich [5.8K]

The time for the job for which the two company are the same is 16

How to form the equation and find the cost?

A yard cleanup service charges a $345 fee plus $16.25 per hour. Therefore,

using linear equation,

y = mx + c

where

 • y = total cost
 • x = time

Therefore,

y = 345 + 16.25x

Another cleanup service charges a $213 fee plus $24.50 per hour. Therefore,

y = 213 + 24.50x

Hence, the time when both cost are the same is as follows;

213 + 24.50x = 345 + 16.25x

213 - 345 = 16.25x - 24.50x

-132 = -8.25x

x = 132 / 8.25

x = 16

Play with the interactives to view the line graphs of various equations. Use positive and negative values for the slope, or m. T
grandymaker [24]
The higher the slope closer it is to being vertical. The lower the slope the closer it is to being horizontal.If the slope is positive Y increases as X increases if the slope is negative Y decreases as X increases.

The function h(t) = 210 – 15t models the altitude of a hot air balloon over time t, in minutes.
Liula [17]
H(10) is the altitude of a hot air balloon overtime after 10 minutes. In order to find h(10)'s value, you just have to substitute 10 as t in the equation. h(10) and h(t) represents the value of y in a linear equation. So pretty much: h(10)= 210 - 15(10). If calculated correctly, h(10)=60.
