Answer:

Q1. The solution for the quadratic equation on a graph is same as the value of x-intercept(zeros)

Q2. discriminant(b^2-4ac) when y=ax^2 + bx + c

there are 3 situations:

1. discriminant > 0 → 2 real solutions(2 x-intercepts/zeros)

2. discriminant = 0 → 1 real solution(1 x-intercept/zero)

3. discriminant < 0 → 0 real solution(0 x-intercept/zero) → also 2 imaginary solution

Hope it helped!

Answer:

1) You find the solution by identifying the x-intercepts.

2) Possible real solutions:

- One real solution.

- Two distinct real solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) The graph of a quadratic equation is a parabola.

By definition, the x-intercepts (Where y=0) are the solutions of the quadratic equation .

2) Given a quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0, you can know the number of real solutions by using this formula to find the Discriminant :

D=b^2-4ac

If  D=0, then there is one real solution with multiplicity two.

If  D>0, then there are two distinct real solutions.

On a graph:

-If the graph has two x-intercepts, then the quadratic equation has two real solutions.

-If the graph has one x-intercept , then the quadratic equation has one real solution.

3. Emma said that when you multiply three negative decimals , the product will be positive . Use these numbers to answer the que
mina [271]

Using multiplication signal rules, it is found that:

A: Emma's statement is always false.

B: The result is always negative.

C: Emma's statement is always true.

The rule used for this exercise is as follows:

  • When two numbers of different signals are multiplied, the result is negative.
  • When two numbers have the same signal, the result is positive.

Part A:

  • Three numbers are multiplied, all negative.
  • The multiplication of the first two result in a positive number.
  • Then, this positive number is multiplied by a negative number, and the result will be negative, which mean that Emma's statement is always false.

Two examples are:

-2.5(-3.8)(-2) = 9.5(-2) = -19

-2.5(-2)(-0.7) = 5(-0.7) = -3.5

Part B:

The rule is that the result is always negative.

Part C:

  • The multiplication of the first two negative numbers result in a positive number.
  • Then, this positive number is multiplied by another positive number, and the result will be positive, which mean that Emma's statement is always true.

Two examples are:

-2.5(-3.8)(2) = 9.5(2) = 19

-2.5(-2)(0.7) = 5(0.7) = 3.5

Step2247 [10]
The answer is approx. 10.8 per hour.

If you want to round it up, it would be 11. I prefer you not to round though as this is Money. Money should have decimals included.

Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

54 equals 9 more than a number

So if we do this, we get

54 = x+9

x+9 = 54

54-9=x

54-x = 9
