Throughout the first half of the nineteenth century, the Northern and Southern regions of the United States struggled to find a mutually acceptable solution to the slavery issue. Unfortunately, little common ground could be found. The cotton-oriented economy of the American South continued to rest on the shoulders of its slaves, even as Northern calls for the abolition of slavery grew louder. At the same time, the industrialization of the North continued. During the 1820s and 1830s, the different needs of the two regions' economies further strained relations between the North and the South.

The first half of the nineteenth century was also a period of great expansion for the United States. In 1803, the nation purchased the vast Louisiana Territory from France, and in the late 1840s it wrestled Texas and five hundred thousand square miles of land in western North America from Mexico. But in both of these cases, the addition of new land deepened the bitterness between the North and the South. As each new state and territory was admitted into the Union, the two sides engaged in furious arguments over whether slavery would be permitted within its borders. Answer:

Sensory adaptation.

Explanation:

Sensory adaptation is the decrease in the awareness of a stimulus due to constant exposure to it.  The sensitivity decrease of this stimulus allows us to pay attention to other stimuli in the environment. This phenomenon happens with smell, taste, sight, hearing, and touch, in other words, with the five senses.

In the described situation, we can see that as Brad smelled the sweet odor constantly, his sensory receptors became less aware of the overwhelming smell and allowed him to pay attention to other stimuli in the bakery.

What is Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD)?

A mental health illness is known as antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). People with ASPD might not know how to act around others. They frequently act in a disrespectful, cunning, or reckless manner. Psychotherapy or medication may be used to treat ASPD. A lack of respect is displayed by those with ASPD toward others. They do not adhere to socially recognized standards or laws. People who have ASPD may breach the law or hurt those around them physically or emotionally. They could ignore the consequences or decline to accept responsibility for their conduct. ASPD characteristics typically start to emerge in late childhood or the early teen years. Before age 18, the condition gets diagnosed as conduct disorder. Children that have behavior disorders may steal, break the law, or bully other kids.
