I would add the 10 2/3 to the 1 7/8. To add the fractions, I need to find the least common denominator. It would be 24. so it'd be 10 16/24+ 1 21/24= 11 37/24. To make the 11 37/24 a proper mixed fraction, I see that the numerator is bigger than the denominator and that 24 can go into 37 one time. So I would add 1 to the 11 to get 12. Then I put the remainder over 24 which would be 13/24. I think your final answer would be 12 13/24 if I did this correctly. So she would have had 12 13/24 inches of hair cut off.

Part C
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

 • Tamara needs to cover a total of 476 square feet.
 • Tamara will have enough material to cover all four walls.

Step-by-step explanation:

If the room dimensions are 8 1/3 feet by 11 1/2 feet, the perimeter length is ...

 P = 2(L+W) = 2(8 1/3 +11 1/2) = 2(19 5/6) = 39 2/3 feet

The area of the walls is the product of this perimeter length and the height of the wall. If that height is 12 feet, then the wall area is ...

 A = PH = (39 2/3 ft)(12 ft) = 476 ft²

Tamara needs to cover a total of 476 square feet.

__

If Tamara orders 480 square feet of material, ...

Tamara will have enough to cover all four walls.
